Description
This is a very pretty evergreen to semi-evergreen shrubs with arching branches, covered with pink blooms.
Abelia is easily grown in well drained soil in full sun to part shade. The dark green leaves turn purplish-bronze in autumn.. The flowers are clusters of lavender-pink. You will get the most flowers in full sun. Blooms on new wood, so prune as needed in late winter to early spring. “Edward Goucher” grows 2 to 3 feet tall, and somewhat taller (about 5 feet) in the warm winter climates, Zones 8-9.
Use in your garden for specimen, shrub borders or foundations. Avoid formal hedges with these, they lose their attractive graceful shaped if pruned into a shape.
